Familiar Touch, a film starring PMA Visiting Lecturer Carolyn Michelle Smith, will have its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival, which takes place from 8/28-9/7.
“Familiar Touch is a coming of (old) age film. It follows an octogenarian woman's transition to life in assisted living as she contends with her conflicting desires and self-narratives amidst her shifting age identity and memory.” The film is written and directed by Sarah Friedland, and co-stars Kathleen Chalfant, Andy McQueen, and H. Jon Benjamin.
“This film has a special space in my heart,” said Smith. “We were fortunate as a cast to actively collaborate with our film’s director and writer Sarah Friedland. It was an opportunity to blend our life experiences and lovingly interweave them into this story.”
