PMA Associate Professor Jeffrey Palmer to Speak at the New York Society for Ethical Culture

PMA Associate Professor Jeffrey Palmer will be giving a talk titled Earth Keepers: The Land Ethics in Kiowa Storytelling at the New York Society for Ethical Culture in NYC on Sunday October 13, from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM. The talk will also be live streamed on the Society website. Following the talk, the society will be screening his film N. Scott Momaday: Words from a Bear.

As our society deals with the existential threat of climate change, it is important to look to the “Earth Keepers”, the Indigenous peoples around the world. The Earth Keepers are not in search of the fastest way to Mars, but rather carry with them generations of stories that could hold the key to a land ethic we desperately seek in the protection of our planet.

Sunday Platform is the New York Society for Ethical Culture's most important and long-standing community event. These gatherings educate, stimulate personal growth, inspire reflection and action, and strengthen our community. Sunday meetings begin with music, followed by greetings and a talk given by a Society Leader, member, or guest. Platforms cover a variety of topics that reflect current events, pressing social issues, and Humanist philosophy. Each Sunday meeting is followed by a luncheon and social hour.

Jeffrey Palmer, a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, is an award-winning filmmaker and media artist.
