PMA Assistant Professor Juan Manuel Aldape Muñoz to Speak on Dance and Law

PMA Assistant Professor Juan Manuel Aldape Muñoz will be a featured speaker for The Association for the Study of Law, Culture and the Humanities on Wednesday, January 29, from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM.

During this virtual event, called "Choreographic Attunements to the Legal Humanities" Anna Kimmel (Dance, George Washington University) and Aldape Muñoz will discuss links between dance and the law.

“In this talk I explore how embodied knowledge of choreography serves as a lens for understanding, critiquing, or reimagining legal practices and principles related to immigration in the United States and Canada,” says Aldape Muñoz. “I hope attendees will take away the understanding that choreographic practices and concepts (e.g., movement contracts, gestures, embodiment) illuminate and interrogate the structures, practices, and ideologies of law, enforcement, and security.”
